Wine Cellar II can save
all of your wine cellar data into a single file. This feature is
primarily intended for you to be able to keep a backup of your data in
the event that your computer hard drive or operating system crashes and
you need to rebuild everything from scratch. Other uses for Backup
files are:
- sychronising data between two computers.
Our most popular support request
is from customers who's computers have crashed, wanting to know
how to retrieve their wine cellar data. Please make frequent Backup
files and keep them on an external disk or another computer.
The Backup file contains only your wine cellar data. It does not contain the Wine Cellar II
application. For that reason, a Backup file is very small and can
easily fit onto a floppy disk. You do not need to back up the Wine
Cellar II application as you will always be able to download the latest
version from this web site. But do make sure your note your licence
number somewhere safe.
Backup files are not like other document files - you cannot open it
directly by double-clicking on it from your Windows File Explorer. You
must start Wine Cellar II and use the Restore function.

We have made the process of creating a Backup file as simple as
possible. Simply select Backup from the File menu. Enter a name for
your backup file and change the Folder if necessary. Then just click on
the Save button.
We recommend moving your backup file to a safe place such as a floppy disk or another computer.
A note on CD-ROMs - please note that CD-ROMs do not behave the same as floppy disks. Wine Cellar II
- like most of your other Windows applications - cannot write directly
to a CD-ROM unless it has been prepared for direct writing by your
CD-ROM Writer software.

If you intend creating regular Backup files, you can have Wine Cellar II
automatically prompt you to create a Backup file each time you exit the
application. To do this, select Options from the Tools menu and click
on the General tab.

The Restore process will load a Backup file into Wine Cellar II and replace the data (if any) that you currently have in Wine Cellar II.
Do not restore a Backup file unless you are absolutley sure you intend
the data in the Backup file to replace what you already have in Wine Cellar II.
To Restore from a Backup file, select Restore from the File menu. Locate and Open your Backup file.
