![]() Wine Cellar II differentiates between wines and bottles. When using Wine Cellar II, you deal with either a wine or an individual bottle depending on the function being performed. Attributes such as retail price, quality ratings, food matches and recommended drinking are entered only once for each wine. However each individual bottle of that wine has it's own purchase price and date, supplier, size and number. To create your first wine, select New from the Wine menu (or press Ctrl+N). ![]() The first four fields are mandatory and these are unique for each wine. All other fields are optional; if you do not know the values now, you can always return to this wine or individual bottles later and amend any details. ![]() Enter the wine's variety, brand, region and vintage. If the wine does not have a vintage, click the Non-vintage check box. Common varieties and regions are pre-loaded into Wine Cellar II. Others you can add yourself. For each field (Variety, Brand and Region), you can either::
![]() ![]() A note about Brands - Wine Cellar II distinguishs between Brands and Wineries - Brands are used by Wineries to distinguish between different levels of wine. For example, a Winery XYZ may have the brands XYZ Private Bin, XYZ Cellar Selection and XYZ Reserve. Alternatively, a Winery may have only one Brand - often the same as the winery name. Below is a typical example of a new Brand: ![]() Remember that the Brand - but not the Winery - is displayed as part of the wine's description. You may therefore want to include the Winery name as part of the Brand. ![]() Wine Cellar II is pre-loaded with the most common bottle sizes. If you wish to create additional sizes, select Options from the Tools menu and click on the Bottle Sizes tab. By default, bottle numbering starts at 1. To permanently use a different bottle number range (e.g. to start from 1000), select Options from the Tools menu and click on the Bottle tab. If you have not already created a Rack or Bin to allocate your new bottles to, don't worry; your wines can remain as Unracked (the definition of all bottles not assigned to a Bin or a location in a Rack) and you can assign them to Racks and Bins at a later time. If you have created Racks and/or Bins, then you can select an appropriate location for your new bottles now. If you attempt to add more bottles that will fit into a Rack or Bin, then once the Rack or Bin is full, any surplus bottles will remain as Unracked - and you will be notified with the appropriate messages.
